Children’s Work

The Sunday School meets each Sunday. The children look at a variety of interesting stories, characters and themes from the Bible with age appropriate activities to illustrate the lessons. The Sunday School is an enjoyable and engaging way to learn about God and the Christian faith in a loving and caring environment, and to develop lasting friendships.

Because we are a relatively small family church our children’s work and youth program are run by volunteers from the church congregation. All our Children’s workers (including those in the crèche and Good Company) are DBS Checked.  Our named Safeguarding Person is Ali.

Crèche

A crèche room is available for pre-school children and babies. The crèche is equipped with a variety of toys and learning aids. The services can be heard via the audio link. Currently there are not any supervised crèche facilities so a parent will need to stay in crèche with their children.

Sunday School

Last year the Sunday School spent April and May learning about the Acts of the Apostles. Between June and November the children learned about the history of Israel from its settlement (Joshua) to God’s promise to David concerning the continuation of his house. From Christmas to Easter the children looked at subjects covered in the Gospels – the King of God’s Kingdom (Mark) and the Beatitudes. Each week the children are taught a simple Bible story and then participate in practical activities based on what they have learned.

The Youth group, is mainly for teenagers who are in the mid and later years at Secondary School, meet in the upper room and had a weekly program of worship, Bible studies, quizzes and personal testimonies from members of our congregation and some guest speakers.  They are designed to equip the young people at church to grow in their relationship with God, and to navigate their way through the challenges they face as teenagers. They also help to prepare them as they leave home for college or university.

We appreciate very much the faithful ministry of Sue, Diana, Nikki, Stephanie, Merril, Alex, John and a number of others from our congregation week by week.

Good Company

Good Company is a popular mother and toddlers group which meets between 9:45am and 11:30am every Thursday during school term time. It is run by Trish and Ali. Good Company caters for babies and pre-school children and provides playtime with toys laid out in the Main Church with an interactive Craft activity for the children. Tea/Coffee and biscuits are provided for the carers, and refreshments for the children. After this there is a time for singing, playing of instruments and a thought for the day. On special occasions, such as Christmas, Easter, or the end of term, a lunch is provided for mums and children. A very warm welcome is extended to all mums, dads, grandparents, au pairs, nannies and their children aged 0 to 4.
